What is Local Links working on?

All projects are community-proposed, led, and powered

Local Links is a partner to create whatever is identified as a need in the community and is designed to step back once the community has what they need to keep moving without us.

Empower

We don’t need to wait for someone else to fix things for us. Empowerment means realizing that we already have what we need when we show up for each other! Local Links is about creating space where people feel supported, seen, and able to take action in their own lives and neighborhoods.

We Educate

Today’s youth need a helpful hand and right guidance at every stage. Here’s where we take care of them.

Educate

Education doesn’t have to be complicated! It’s about sharing what we know: skills, resources, and stories. So that we can all grow stronger together. From learning how to fix a bike, to navigating local systems (like Medicaid, DSHS, etc.) to understanding each other’s experiences, we keep learning accessible and connected to real life.

We Consult

We are in search of opportunities to help as many youth as possible. We approach and fund all those in need.

Expose

Too often we only see the barriers. Local Links works to expose both the gaps in our community and the strengths that often go unnoticed. By connecting with new people and ideas, we break down isolation and open doors to possibilities that might not have been visible before.

We Strengthen

We run small-scale schools for the underprivileged children and youth of daily wage workers for a better future.

LOCAL LINKS PROJECTS

PODS + SOCIAL
MATCHMAKING

Pods: Small groups where people can connect more personally. Think of them as your circle within the bigger community – neighbors and/or friends you can lean on, hang out with, or share resources with! Once enough pods get going, we can do some “Pod Challenges” to encourage community involvement and volunteering.

SURVEY

Tired of online dating or just being online in general? Local Links’ will be launching a “Single Mingle” pilot at local businesses starting November 2025. Randomly get matched into a group activity of other single individuals for a low-pressure, more organic way of connecting! We hope you make new friends and/or find new light in your life!

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Local Links hosted its first official Block Party in August 2025 in the Mountain View Neighborhood. Astro was inspired to have a block party in her neighborhood after driving by a home that had burnt down on her normal route to work. She realized that her neighbors did not have her contact information to call her if her own house was burning down. After three months of planning, the block party was a major hit and hopefully will inspire you to throw one in your neighborhood as well! If you would like Local Links to partner with you on creating one, please send us an email!

PEER SUPPORT

This project is currently in planning stages. If you have any ideas for groups that you want to see in the community, please fill out the community survey, here!

Sometimes you just need a space to talk with people who get it. Our peer support groups are about listening, sharing, and not having to go through things alone. These are not therapeutic groups and anyone seeking professional support will be referred to local resources. The groups are designed to be ran by the community, for the community, and sustain long after Local Links support.
