About LocalLinks
Local Links is a call to show up for each other.
This is not a big non-profit. It’s just me and anyone who wants to join in! My goal is to make community feel real again. We believe people already have what they need to support each other. Sometimes we just need a way to connect!
Local Links focuses on building connections between people, and between our communities and the schools, programs, and systems all around us.
Our Mission
Local Links is about helping communities build what they want to see and need.
Rather than waiting for new programs or outside resources, we believe in showing up for each other. By sharing what we have and building real connections, we can create a sense of belonging that lasts.
Our Vision
This is an initiative started by one social worker with a vision: to see communities come alive again.
We imagine a community where kids play outside, neighbors know and support each other, and no one has to jump through hoops to feel connected.
Equity & Inclusion
Local Links is for everyone but we also know not everyone starts from the same place. Many BIPOC communities often face extra barriers such as fewer resources, less representation, and systems that were not built with them in mind.
A core part of Local Links is making sure these voices are not just included, but uplifted. This means building programs where leadership reflects to community, creating space for conversations that matter, and making sure that those who are usually left out get the chance to shape what Local Links becomes. Community isn’t just about connection – it’s also about justice and making sure that everyone has a seat at the table.
About Astro
Hi!! My name is Astro (online) or Kaylee IRL!!
I created Local Links as a call to action to get people offline and remember community again. This is your official out to say you’ve been feeling lonely too. We have all been neglecting important relationships as we cope with the changing world around us. We need community now more than ever.
Whether it’s sharing tools, joining an affinity pod, or gathering around a table, I believe that we can build something meaningful together – where we feel less alone, more supported, and more empowered to show up for each other.
It is small. It is imperfect. It’s human.
Thank you for being here!!
